SPRI is pleased to announce that our second well drilled with Rooster Petroleum is a success! The well, EI 28 #6, is a straight hole to ~10,900′ and encountered approximately 60′ of high quality gas sand around a depth of 10,600′.
EI 28 Tex-W Discovery
Sierra Pine Resources has begun the year with a significant discovery in the Tex-W sand of Eugene Island 28. Under SPRI direction, Rooster Petroleum drilled the well on its block and encountered approximately 30 feet net oil and gas pay. The Rooster #A-3 came online with initial production rates of 1,242 barrels of oil and 5.16 million cubic feet of gas per day.

Haynesville Shale News
Now it’s northern Louisiana’s turn to bask in the limelight, thanks to the relatively new, high-potential Haynesville shale gas play. Marjorie McKeithen, secretary of the State Mineral Board was quoted as saying “this is an extraordinary time for Louisiana, particularly in North Louisiana, where we are experiencing something akin to a modern day gold rush due to excitement about the Haynesville shale discovery.”
